This Father’s Day, give the best gift of all: time. Check out these 5 amazing trips we would love to take with our Dad’s for a little bonding time.
GOLF | U.S OPEN, VARIOUS LOCATIONS
Currently taking place at Shinnecock Hills on Long Island, this annual tournament is held in various locations across the United States. We can’t think of a better way to spend Father’s Day than watching the world’s best dads – like Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson and Fred Couples – play their favorite game. Extend this holiday but adding in a few tee times of your own at courses in the surrounding area. Some of our favorites on Long Island include Harbour Links and Montauk Downs.
TENNIS | PNB PARIBAS OPEN INDIAN WELLS, CALIFORNIA
Just minutes from several of the country’s top golf courses, the PNB Paribas Open adds another fun element to a father daughter trip. Spectators can watch top tennis players live on the court from the comfort of the world renowned Nobu sushi restaurant. When you aren’t watching, there are several tennis courts nearby where you can practice with your Pop. For more details on how to enjoy the idyllic setting of Palm Desert, read our Sporting Girls Guide.
POLO | ARGENTINE OPEN, PALERMO, ARGENTINA
Perhaps the furthest destination on our list, but also one of the most prestigious. The Argentine Open is takes place at the end of November, in the heart Buenos Aires, and attracts the top players in the world including teams from Canada and the United States. To make this an extra special trip for Dad, we recommend getting there a few days early to play. The area surrounding Buenos Aires is home to many polo facilities that host people from around the world to perfect their polo skills and learn more about the game.
SHOOT | PHEASANT SEASON, LONGVIEW, CANADA
While Canada is widely known for it’s amazing ski terrain, visit the prairies of Alberta for the world-class opportunity to pheasant hunt starting on September 1. We can’t think of a better way to spend the day with your Father – walking through the tall grass, wind at your back and dogs at your feet. For first time shooters, we recommend practicing with your Purdey & Sons side by side before you head out.
SKI | OPENING DAY, ASPEN, COLORADO
Skiing is always a great way to spend time with your family, but make it extra special this year for your Dad and take him on a few laps of the Highlands Bowl. This adventure is not for the faint of heart but certainly is worth the memories. From the top of the Lodge Peak, skiers hike to the along the ridge for the most breathtaking view of Aspen Mountain. Be sure to finish off the day by treating your Dad to dinner at the Hotel Jerome's lobby bar.
