Sporting Girls Guide to Aspen

Sporting Girls Guide to Aspen
Posted on

Aspen is one of our favorite destinations due to the variety of outdoor activities available year- round, all set in one of the most beautiful (and luxurious) mountain towns in the world. With so many festivals and a myriad of sports it can be daunting to decide when to visit, which is why we have outlined our favorite activities and events during each month of the year. Keep an eye out for our summer Sporting Girl Guide to Aspen coming soon!

  • April - Spring skiing conditions and parties like closing day at Highlands.

  • May - Mud season, not ideal to visit as many businesses are closed.

  • June - Food and Wine Classic in Aspen , Aspen Music Festival , yoga on top of Aspen Mountain.

  • July - August- Aspen Arts Festival , Aspen Farmers Market, whitewater rafting down the Colorado River.

  • August - Watch exhilarating polo during the High Alpine Cup at Aspen Valley Polo Club then head off on your own equine adventure horseback riding through the aspen groves and mountain flowers.

  • September - Oktoberfest and peak leafing

  • October - Ideal time to hike and see the Elk migration, try your hand at clay target shooting and when you’re ready go for an upland bird hunt

  • November - Some of the mountains open mid November but to have a better shot at good snow we prefer booking our trips for December.

  • December & January - Christmas and New Years- Snow Polo, prime skiing and holiday festivals. This is the time to see and be seen in Aspen, meaning you’ll want to book early and secure your dinner reservations well ahead of time. Winter X Games also are in town the end of January, bringing a rowdy college aged crowd to town so if this is not your scene you may want to avoid this weekend.

  • February - Great skiing conditions with lots of bluebird days. Smugglers Trail Hike is our favorite non skiing way to get outside during winter.

  • March - Spring Skiing and tour the latest exhibit at the Aspen Art Museum.
