People flock to Denver for the ability to have the outdoors at their fingertips while still having all the amenities of a big city. While there are endless options to get out and play we have outlined our favorite ways to spend our summer days in the mile high city of Denver.

 Tennis | Gates Tennis Center

Set up a lesson with Meike Babel, a former world- class women’s tennis player and mental skills coach at tennis powerhouse Vanderbilt University. Gates Tennis Center also offers a very popular cardio tennis workout and drill classes you can sign up for on their website.  The best public tennis facility in the city boasts 20 courts within walking distance from some of the best hotels and restaurants in the upscale neighborhood of Cherry Creek.

Hike | Red Rocks

While at night Red Rocks Amphitheater is an iconic concert venue, during the day it is a favorite spot to exercise and hike just outside the city. The Trading Post Trail is an easy 1.4-mile trail winding through stunning rock formations. If you are looking for something more challenging, find hundreds of other day hikes near Denver here.

Consistently rated the best public course in Denver, this is an absolutely stunning course even the most casual golfer should experience. With ancient red sandstone towers jutting out of the fairways, don’t be surprised if your attention is on the views instead of the pin. Regardless of how you play you’re guaranteed to leave with fond memories and an epic photo from hole 13. Finish with lunch on the patio at  On the Rocks Bar and Grill before your next activity.

Polo Lesson | Denver Polo Club

Escape the city and head to the beautiful retreat that is the Denver Polo Club. Set at the base of the Rocky Mountains, Denver Polo is a casual atmosphere where everyone is welcomed regardless of age or experience. Arrange a private lesson with one of the friendly pros or play a few chukkers in the coaching league. If watching is more your pace, check the website for a schedule of events and bring a picnic to tailgate!

Boulder Day Trip

With over 300 days of sunshine a year, Boulder is consistently named one of the best small towns in America. Even if you only have 3 days in the mile-high city a day trip to Boulder is a must do for any outdoor enthusiast.  Located 30 minutes north of Denver, Boulder is protected by a greenbelt of open space that covers two thirds of the Boulder Valley preserving its natural beauty and small-town charm. Parking can be an issue in this small town so if you don’t want to worry about driving, the Flatiron Flyer is a cheap and clean alternative that runs from Union Station in Denver to downtown Boulder.

Hike |  Chautauqua Park

The Iconic flatirons of Chautauqua park are the pride of Boulder. There are many routes to choose but one of the most popular is the First-Second Flatiron Trail (1.1 mi; 960 ft.) See the website or stop by the ranger station at the base of the park for a map. Bring a camera, water and sunscreen!

This beautifully designed stretch of walking mall between 11th and 15th street is home to Boulder’s best restaurants and shops. Pick up some local art and drop in for a happy hour at one of the many outdoor patios. If you just can’t bear to leave this paradise we don’t blame you, book a night at the St. Julien Hotel and Spa for its perfect location and unforgettable views.

Bike | Road or Mountain

Boulder is known for its cycling and mountain biking and Boulder Bike Tours will make sure you are well equipped and safe on your tour. Choose from half day mountain biking excursions to multi day trips for every level of rider. The Bike to Farm Tour is a popular evening ride that includes a dinner on an organic farm that the whole family can enjoy.
